Corfu Island Holidays

The old fortress of Corfu dominates the landscape of the city, and was build on a triangular peninsula that separates it from the city with a small canal. One popular site that is worth seeing is the temple of "Agios Spiridonas", which was built in the 16th century, and was dedicated to the protector of the city.
At a distance of 10km from the centre of the city is the beautiful Achillio Palace, situated within a stunning garden. The palace was built in 1890 and was used as a place of relaxation by "Elisabeth", the empress of Austria, who was also known as "Sisy". Today, the Achillion Palace operates as a very popular and unique casino.
Corfu offers many beautiful places to visit. Whichever route a visitor takes, the journey around the island will be both idyllic, inspiring and rewarding.
Heading northwards from the city, you will pass through the lovely areas of Gouvia, Kassiopi, Rhoda and Sidari. Westwards from Corfu town, you will head towards Peleka, Glyfada and the famous area of Paleokastritsa.
For beautiful golden beaches, and crystal blue and green waters, visitors can head southwards from Corfu town and head towards Benitses and Lefkimi. Here the landscape is simply beautiful with luscious green nature and rich vegetation all around.
The island of Corfu offers a wonderful selection of accommodation, including hotels of all categories as well as rooms, studios and apartments to let. Visitors travelling to Corfu will have a great choice of places to stay at.
From the main port of Corfu, there are boat connections with both Igoumenitsa and Patras. The port of Lefkimi on Corfu provides connections with the neighbouring island of Paxi (Paxos).
The airport on Corfu caters for both domestic and international flights. There are also bus connections from Corfu that can take you to both Athens and Thessaloniki.
