Sikinos Island Holidays

Sikinos is a small island, situated in the southern Cyclades between the islands of Ios and Folegandros. It is a very beautiful island, ideal for peaceful and carefree holidays surrounded by charming nature and the blue waters of the Aegean Sea.

The capital of Sikinos is Chora and it is located 3.5km from the port. Built at the edge of a cliff overlooking the coast, the inhabitants of the old days were able to shelter in the monastery of Zoodohou Pigis, providing them with better protection against pirate raids.

Sikinos is a very scenic and tranquil island, that offers some wonderful scenery and inspiring landscapes. Visitors to this quaint island cannot help but to relax and unwind. The island is ideal for those who enjoy walking and exploring, and there are several interesting places that one can visit. At the highest point of Chora you will find the picturesque windmills.

Holidays in Sikinos Greece

Just outside of Episkopi are the ruins of an ancient settlement as well as the Cape of Malta where visitors can see a collection of ruins that have been named Paleokastro by the locals who reside here. Also worth visiting is the charming Folklore Museum where visitors can also see the old olive press building, where olive production was carried out in days gone by. The white church of Pantanesas, which was built in 1787 is also worth seeing.

Sikinos has a nice choice of beaches for swimming, such as the sandy beach found at the port of Alopronia, or Ano Pronia as it is also known. To visit some of the other more remote beaches on the island such as Agios Georgios, Dialiskari and Agios Panteleimonas, you would need to take a boat from the harbour.
