Milos Island Holidays
The third largest island in the Cyclades and is located in the south east, near to the neighbouring islands of Sifnos and Folegandros. Milos is a very beautiful island and one that is ideal for relaxing holidays.
Milos is very well known for the famous statue of Venus of Milos that was excavated here. The island is one with a very rich history and there are many beautiful attractions for visitors to enjoy.
The magnificent volcano landscape of Milos is simply stunning and is an image that all visitors will remember and cherish. The island is typical to those found in the Aegean Sea, with it's charming white houses and colourful arrangements of flowers and plants.
Some of the sights that visitors to Milos should try to see include the castle in Chora (Hora), which is the capital of the island.
Other popular attractions include the ancient theatre, the museum and the catacombs of the Paleochristianic period. There are some charming old churches with Cretan wall paintings.
There are some wonderful beaches in Milos that have some truly exceptional caves on them. Examples of some of the most popular beaches include the sandy beaches of Gerontas, Parafragas, Provatas and Filiplaka.
During the summer months, the beaches are filled with visitors enjoying the crystal clear waters and magical landscapes of the island.
The island has a great selection of modern comforts and there is a range of accommodation available such as hotels, rooms, apartments and studios to let. There are also many traditional tavernas where you can enjoy a great selection of tasty local cuisine, as well as cafeterias and bars which you can stay at until the early hours of the morning.
Milos has excellent boat connections with the ports of Pireaus and Rafina in the capital city of Athens, as well as to some of the other islands in the Cyclades. There is also an airport on the island that caters for domestic air travel to other destinations across Greece.
