Donousa Island Holidays
Situated between the islands of Naxos and Amorgos are a grouping of small islands known as the "Small Cyclades". The island of Donoussa is the largest of this group, and one that is ideal for tranquil and peaceful holidays during the summer.
Donousa is considered by many to be the ideal destination in the Cyclades for peaceful and relaxing holidays. The size of the island makes it possible to walk from one side to the other, where along the way, you can enjoy beautiful scenery and inspiring views out towards the blue waters of the Aegean sea.
The island is also very popular for those who take sailing holidays in the Aegean as well as tourists who may have chartered a yacht. The capital of the island and the port is called Donousa - the same name of the island.
At a distance of 10km north of Kalotaritsa is a small settlement which is ideal for swimming and where you can find a very nice beach. During the summer months, Donousa is a perfect island for enjoyable and relaxing holidays.
Accommodation on the island is limited to rooms to let - there are no hotels on the island. Though there are many new houses built each year on the island, it is still difficult to find available accommodation, especially during the high season.
If you are planning to visit this charming island, it is recommended to try to make you accommodation reservations as early as possible. Around the island are some lovely traditional tavernas where you can enjoy a lovely selection of cuisine including fresh fish as well as some local dishes.
Donousa is a very traditional and quaint island, and one that many people choose to visit for their Greek Island holidays.
There are connections by boat via the port of Pireaus in Athens. During the summer months, there are local connections to many of the other islands in the Cyclades and the Dodecanese.
