Visitors to Greece from the United States are expected to increase by about 5-7% when compared to last year. This very good news, which was announced by George Trivizas, who is the head of the Hellenic-American Chamber of Tourism, was widely received in the tourism industry where analysts are expecting a very good year.
One important aspect of this expected increase depends on the increase of seats on flights to Greece. Mr Trivizas also stressed that combined packages with neighboring countries are sold and that travel agencies which specialize in the US market are created and operated in Greece.
The markets between European and American visitors to Greece are fairly different in some aspects, so for the increased number of visits to Greece from the US, it is very important that travel agencies can cater for US tourists as well as European.
In similar good news for the tourism industry in Greece, Aegean Airlines announced that for the first time in four years, there was an increase in domestic flights around the country. The new pricing policy that Aegean Airlines started in November last year has had a very positive effect and has seen an 18% increase from it’s Athens hub and a 41% increase from it’s Thessaloniki hub.
